Why Taking A Bath During Your Period Can Be A Good Thing

Female Period Hygiene 101: How To Stay Fresh On Your Period 2018!!

Taking a bath during your period has a few benefits, the most important of which is hygiene.

While some period and bathing myths sound harmless, their impact on menstrual hygiene can have potentially serious health implications.

Practicing good hygiene while youre on your period can help prevent skin irritation and infections, including:

Its also a good way to prevent funky odors down there.

Hygiene aside, taking a bath during your period offers other benefits, too, like relaxation.

A hot bath can help you unwind and relax tense muscles, providing some natural relief from cramps and other period symptoms, like headaches and low back pain. Taking a hot bath before bed can also help you sleep better.

Heat therapy to treat period cramps isnt new. Applying local heat can relax your abdominal muscles and reduce tension, which may help with other period pain, like backaches and headaches.

Heat can also increase blood circulation in the pelvis. This can help reduce blood and fluid retention, which takes pressure off the nerves in the area, resulting in some pain relief.

If your periods affect your poop and cause constipation and gas, that increased blood flow may also help get things moving again. And since were talking constipation, a warm bath can help if you have hemorrhoids, which are a common side effect of constipation and straining on the toilet.

Menstrual Hygiene Tips For Every Woman

    May 17, 2017

Whether youve recently started menstruating or youve had your monthly cycle for many years, managing the downsides of your period are important.

While on your period, proper hygiene can help you stay clean and healthy, and avoid embarrassment, shares Dr. Caroline Dustin, an OBGYN with Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group.

She offers 5 easy ways to maintain hygiene during that time of the month.

  • Choose the right feminine products. There are many more out there than you think, and it is good to try them out to see which one works best for you, says Dr. Dustin. Remember to change whichever product you use often enough to promote cleanliness and health down there. If you prefer pads, Dr. Dustin suggests switching to a cloth or cotton pad. You may have to change it more often, but cotton pads are usually more hygienic and cause less odor because they do not trap the blood, says Dr. Dustin. Find the right menstrual products for you.
  • Dont overthink your soap. There are a lot of feminine cleansing products out there, and most of them are unnecessary, costly and even harmful, warns Dr. Dustin. Plain old unscented soap and water is best.
  • If you notice that the scent does not seem to decrease after these steps, try using a menstrual cup. If you are used to using tampons or pads, it may take a while to get used to them, says Dr. Dustin. They cause less odor than pads and tampons, are reusable and are more environmentally friendly.

    Changes In Your Periods

    Easy Carry

Your periods can change for example, they may last longer or get lighter. This does not necessarily mean there’s a problem, but it does need to be investigated.

You can see your GP, or visit your nearest women’s clinic or contraceptive clinic.

Bleeding between periods, bleeding after having sex, or bleeding after the menopause needs to be checked by a doctor.

It might be caused by an infection, abnormalities in the neck of the womb or, in rare cases, it could be cancer.

You could be pregnant if you miss a period and you’ve had sex. See your GP if you’ve taken a pregnancy test and the result is negative and you’ve missed 3 consecutive periods.

They will investigate the cause and recommend any necessary treatment.

    Feeling Fresh During My Period

One of the challenges women face is managing the inconvenience of menstruating while keeping up with all their usual obligations. Weve compiled some helpful suggestions for keeping things fresh while youre on the rag.

There is deeply ingrained social stigma around menstruation that makes many women want to fade into the woodwork until it passes instead of carrying on with their lives. But this stigma is mostly based in myths that have long since been refuted. Knowing the facts about your period and creating a personal menstrual hygiene routine can help you keep feeling fresh throughout the month.

Your period occurs due to hormonal changes in the body. Hormones are biochemical messengers, organizing the body for its biological imperative to procreate. The ovaries release the female hormones estrogen and progesterone. These hormones cause the lining of the uterus to thicken in preparation for a fertilized egg to imbed itself in the uterine wall and begin to develop. If there is no fertilized egg and no pregnancy, the lining breaks down and is expelled as your menstrual blood. This happens each month during the fertile years of a womans life from puberty to menopause.

The average duration of a menstrual cycle is 28 days . The length of the cycle does not depend on the length of the calendar month or the phases of the Moon it is an individual biological process that is often shorter or longer than average, generally falling within the range of 21 to 35 days.

    Avoid Products With Scents

While it might be tempting to use perfume, products with strong scents can actually be harmful to your health. These scents can be very sensitive to the vaginal mucosa, which can build up more bad bacteria.

Using products like feminine wipes or scented pad liners isnt a good idea either. According to various sources, using these products will make your odor even worse and irritate your skin. Four Kinds Of Efficient Food Storage Methods

Refrigeration method:Low temperatures can slow down the process of chemical reactions in vegetables, reduce enzyme activity, and inhibit microorganism reproduction, allowing vegetables to be preserved for a longer period of time if stored in the refrigerator or in the natural environment of outdoor freezing during the winter. Boiling method:Boil the food and then save it, which is actually high-temperature sterilization. Put the food in boiling water to sterilise it, and then dry it to preserve it. Some meat or some vegetables can be used in this method. Sealing method:The vegetables will be packed in sealed boxes, bags, and other containers. The container will be covered or sealed, isolating the food from the air, not only to reduce moisture loss but also to protect the food from air pollution. Drying method:The drying method is with the sun, fire, smoke, or wind to remove the water in the food. That can prevent food spoilage and rotting. The refrigeration and sealing methods are two of the most commonly used. Moisture increases the likelihood of the vegetables rotting. However, keeping the vegetables at a low temperature and isolated from oxygen by wrapping them in cling film can slow down aerobic cellular respiration, preserving freshness.
