See your doctor if your periods change and become heavier than previously. For most women, the cause is unclear and there is no abnormality of the womb or hormones. However, it is very important to get it checked out properly.
A doctor may want to do an internal examination to examine your neck of the womb and also to assess the size and shape of your womb. However, an examination is not always necessary, especially in younger women who do not have any symptoms to suggest anything other than dysfunctional uterine bleeding.A blood test to check for anaemia may be performed. If you bleed heavily each month then you may not take in enough iron in your diet, needed to replace the blood that you lose. This can lead to anaemia which can cause tiredness and other symptoms. Up to 2 in 3 women with recurring heavy periods develop anaemia.If the vaginal examination is normal and there are no other associated symptoms, no further tests may be needed. The diagnosis is usually dysfunctional uterine bleeding and treatment may be started if required. How To Get Rid Of Period Cramps
Some women have abnormally painful periods.
There are many ways you can help ease the pain of period cramps. We go into greater detail about them in an earlier blog post on painful periods. To summarize, some of the best answers to how to get rid of period cramps include:

Ibuprofen Can Delay Periods For Up To 2 Days By Disrupting A Chemical In The Uterus
“I’ve been advising this for years as a gynecologist,” Dr. Lauren Streicher told Insider. “We know that ibuprofen can reduce menstrual cramps as well as menstrual flow.”
Ibuprofen and naproxen are both nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, known as NSAIDs, that reduce the production of something called prostaglandins the chemicals that cause the uterus to contract and shed its uterine lining monthly.
In 2013, a study found that taking NSAIDs can reduce menstrual flow by 28% to 49%. In 2019, the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews found that NSAIDs were “modestly effective” at controlling heavy menstrual flows.
According to Streicher, the delay can stretch for a day or two, but you’d have to take more than the recommended dose. She tells her clients to take 600 milligrams of ibuprofen at the onset of their periods because that’s when the level of prostaglandins are at their highest.
If your period is like clockwork every month, Streicher recommends taking one 600 mg dose on the morning you expect your period. If your period isn’t as regular, Streicher recommends you taking a dose as soon as you see blood.
If you want to continue lessening your flow, you need to continue taking ibuprofen 600 mg daily.
Though this method can be a book for people with heavy flows, Streicher says ibuprofen should not be used to mask or ignore a serious problem. Extremely heavy periods can cause anemia, and may be symptoms of endomedtriosis and PCOS.

Why Its Not Possible To Stop A Period That Has Already Started
It isnt possible to stop a period that has already started because the shedding process in the lining of the uterus has already started due to low levels of estrogen and progesterone. Once these hormones decrease, the internal lining of the uterus sheds and leads to the bleeding that occurs during a period.
Emergency Treatment To Rapidly Stop Heavy Bleeding
Some women have very heavy bleeding during a period. This can cause a lot of blood loss, and distress. One option as an emergency treatment is to take a course of norethisterone tablets. Norethisterone is a progestogen medicine. Progestogens act like the body’s natural progesterone hormones – they control the build-up of cells lining the womb .So, if a period is very heavy or prolonged, your doctor may advise that you take norethisterone tablets. A dose of 5 mg three times daily for 10 days is the usual treatment. Bleeding usually stops within 24-48 hours of starting treatment. If bleeding is exceptionally heavy then 10 mg three times daily may be given. This should then be tapered down to 5 mg three times daily for a week, once your bleeding has stopped.

What Is Considered An Abnormally Heavy Period
Granted, some women have heavier periods than others, but there are still some important health indicators you should watch for.
Your flow is too heavy if you bleed through one or more pads or tampons every one to two hours.
Your period should never be so heavy that it interferes with your ability to do daily activities. Many women with menorrhagia, the medical term for abnormally heavy periods, may actually feel lightheaded or dizzy.
Other indicators of menorrhagia include:
- Feeling tired or faintthese could be signs of anemia
- Periods that last longer than eight days
- Passing menstrual blood clots larger than 50 cent pieces
- Having difficulty breathing during or after your period
Problems With Your Connection
One of the most common things that causes your internet to slow down is one you can’t control – it’s a problem with your connection. How can you tell if this is happening to you?
