After taking ECP, supposed my period come around one week but, at this time almost within 2weeks I didnt get period, for twice Ill do check pregnant test but its still negative results.. what should I do??

Okay so I just posted a bit ago, hereâs MY follow up. I posted about my second period being late after my boyfriend and my condom broke so spooky stuff. This would be 10 Days late but I FINALLY got it this afternoon. Plan b really does mess up your cycle, first period I was a full 2 week late, now Iâm 10 Days late. But all in all, Iâm glad this resource is out there and I am BEYOND glad that it worked for me. And for the record, I had cramping and sore nips and bloating for weeks so I was really scared but donât worry, those hormones can mess with you beyond belief. Hope this helps someone!

Emergency contraception, such as Plan B or ella, should never be relied on as your main form of birth control, but can be extraordinarily helpful if something happens and you end up needing to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. It is important to note that the morning after pill is NOT the same as an abortion pill. Emergency contraception prevents pregnancy, while abortion terminates an existing pregnancy.

Why You Need To Wait To Take A Pregnancy Test
Plan B is only 95% effective. That means there is a chance that you were unlucky and had already ovulated that is, were at peak fertility right before you had unprotected sex. Even if you use Plan B as directed, you could be in the 5% non-effective group.
If you do get pregnant, heres what happens in your body next, and why you have to wait a few days before you can take a pregnancy test.
First, the egg released by your ovaries will be fertilized by a sperm in your fallopian tube.13 It can then take up to nine days for the fertilized egg to implant into your uterus.13 This triggers the growth of the placenta, which starts making a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin, or hCG, which shows up in your urine.13
A certain level of hCG needs to be present in your urine before a pregnancy test can actually detect it. The delay of a few days each for fertilization, implantation, and hCG production is why you have to wait so long after sex before you can take a pregnancy test and expect real results.
How long do you have to wait to take a pregnancy test? Some pregnancy tests say you can start testing as early as six days before your period , like Clearblue and others that bill themselves as early detection. Regular pregnancy tests are the most accurate if you wait till your period is supposed to start .14

Is Plan B One
No. RU-486, sold as Mifeprex, is a prescription drug for medical abortion. Mifeprex is used after a woman is already pregnant. Plan B One-Step is an emergency contraceptive. It is used to prevent pregnancy. While some people do feel that pregnancy begins at the time of conception, many doctors and the FDA do not describe Plan B One-Step as an abortion pill but as emergency contraception.

In any case, its not 100 percent effective. Its estimated that about 7 of every 8 women who would have gotten pregnant will not get pregnant after taking the medication. It may not work if you vomit within 2 hours of taking it.

Where youre at in your menstrual cycle and how soon after unprotected sex you take the morning-after pill can affect how well it prevents pregnancy. Morning-after pills wont work if your body has already started ovulating.
This is why timing is so important, especially if youre using Plan B and other levonorgestrel morning-after pills. Most people dont know exactly when they ovulate, so its best to use emergency contraception as soon as possible no matter where you are in your menstrual cycle or whether or not you think youre about to ovulate.
The morning-after pill is NOT the same thing as the abortion pill . The morning-after pill doesnt cause an abortion. It wont work if youre already pregnant, and it wont harm an existing pregnancy. Emergency contraception is birth control, not abortion. It doesnt end a pregnancy it prevents one.

The Sooner You Take Plan B The More Effective It Is
Plan B can be taken up to three days from when you had unprotected sex, but it is most effective to take the pill as soon as possible. The pill will decrease in efficacy from day one to day three.
If you take the pill 12 to 24 hours after having unprotected sex, its around 95% effective, but if you take it 48 to 72 hours after, it will decrease to 61%. Since Plan B works to prevent ovulation, if you have already ovulated, then the pill will not work.
It really matters where a person is in their menstrual cycle, says Rebecca Jacobson, MD, an OB-GYN at Northshore Medical Group. If you have unprotected sex right at the time of ovulation and then take Plan B two days after, it will be less effective than if you took it right away.
Who Can Use The Emergency Pill
Most women can use the emergency contraceptive pill. This includes women who can’t use hormonal contraception, such as the combined pill and contraceptive patch. Girls under 16 years old can also use it.
But you may not be able to take the emergency contraceptive pill if you’re allergic to anything in it, have severe asthma or take any medicines that may interact with it, such as:
- the herbal medicine St John’s Wort
- some medicines used to treat epilepsy, HIV or tuberculosis
- medicine to make your stomach less acidic, such as omeprazole
- some less commonly used antibiotics
ellaOne can’t be used if you’re already taking one of these medicines, as it may not work. Levonelle may still be used, but the dose may need to be increased.
Tell a GP, nurse or pharmacist what medicines you’re taking, and they can advise you if they’re safe to take with the emergency contraceptive pill.

As the doctor probably explained to you:Your period will start within 24 to 72 hours of taking the plan b pill. Thats what it does, eg, induces your period right away.
IF you didnt listen to the doctor and instead waited ten days, with no period and feel like you are pregant, there is a VERY good chance, yep, youre pregnant and the plan b pill was not effective.
Anytime you get a prescription medication from a doctor, if you dont follow their directions completely and CALL them with questions, concern or follow ups, then you run the risk of whatever treatment they gave you not being as effective as it should be.

Does Plan B Work During Ovulation
Morning-after pills are most effective before ovulation. This is because they stop an egg from being released from the ovary so theres no egg available to get fertilized by sperm. But if youve already ovulated, the pill may prevent sperm from fertilizing an egg.
If enough time has passed after unprotected sex and an egg has already been fertilized, Plan B may stop the egg from implanting in the uterus. But if the fertilized egg has already been implanted in the womb before taking Plan B, its unfortunately too late, and it wont prevent pregnancy. Timing is key here.
