Wait Until The Ovulation Occurs To Indulge In Sex
Usually, the safe window for fertilization is four days before the ovulation time. The chances of pregnancy increase if you have sex during this period. If you wait till ovulation, you might miss the fertility window. Say, you had intercourse during your period and got pregnant. How would you know that you are pregnant?

The average menstrual cycle is 28 days, with the first day of menstruation as cycle day 1.

Though safe days are just a prediction based on human calculations, it helps women understand their menstrual cycle well and know safe days to have unprotected sex without the fear of being conceived.
To calculate safe days, we need to start with calculating the length of a womanâs menstrual cycle. This length is calculated from the beginning of the menstrual period to day 1 of the next menstrual period.
The first week after the period is usually safe in a menstrual cycle as eggs are not producing and ovaries are still forming the eggs. A week before the next period cycle is also considered safe as ovulation is done, and there is less chance of fertilisation.

The fertile window usually occurs in the middle of a persons cycle. This window lasts a few days before ovulation and ends a day after ovulation. People are most likely to become pregnant during this time.
Due to this, people are less likely to get pregnant in the days leading up to their period. This is especially true if their periods are regular and they have a 28-day menstrual cycle.
It is, however, possible for a person to get pregnant immediately after their period. This is because sperm can still fertilize eggs for up to 7 days after sexual intercourse.
If a person with a short cycle has sexual intercourse right after their period and ovulates early, they may ovulate quickly enough for the egg to connect with sperm cells.
Check Your Cervical Mucus
The same hormones that control your menstrual cycle also affect the mucus that your cervix makes. Just before and during ovulation, the amount, color, and texture of it change to make it easier for you to get pregnant.
As your ovaries prepare to release an egg, your cervix makes more mucus. A few days before ovulation, it may be sticky and cloudy or whitish. Then, right before you ovulate, the mucus gets slippery, like egg whites. It may stretch across your fingers if you spread them apart. This stage usually lasts 3 or 4 days, which is when you’re most likely to get pregnant.
To check your cervical mucus:
- Use your fingers or a tissue to check the opening of your vagina for mucus a few times a day. Make sure your hands are clean before you start. Write down whether it’s cloudy and sticky or clear and slippery.
- Chart your cervical mucus changes and your basal body temperature to get a clear picture of where you are in your cycle.
Keep in mind that other things, like breastfeeding, can change your mucus. Using douches or other hygiene products can also affect it. Gynecologists usually don’t recommend these products.
