Watery Period Blood Sign Of Pregnancy

My Gp Wont Refer Me For A Scan

I’m 5 weeks pregnant, but I have no signs of pregnancy. Is that normal?

If your GP wont refer you for a scan, it might be because it is too early to be able to see even a healthy pregnancy on scan . But it might be that s/he takes a wait and see approach and advises you to stay home and put your feet up, or to stay in bed or just to go about your normal routine.

You might find this very frustrating and even frightening, especially if you are feeling very anxious:

  • If its your first pregnancy, you may worry because you dont know what is normal and what isnt.
  • If you have had a previous healthy pregnancy, you may worry because this pregnancy is not progressing in the same way.
  • And if you have previously lost a baby, you are likely to be particularly anxious because of what happened last time.

Watery ‘thin’ Period 25

claireybee · 25/07/2009 20:58

My period this month is really strange, it came bang on time and felt like normal but it’s really watery. The blood is bright red but looks almost like it’s been mixed with water and thinned down. I’m leaking out of mooncup despite it not being full and am soaking a pad as well, the blood is red on the pad but then kind of spreads out to leave a watermark. Every now and then I feel a gush and more comes out. My last few periods have been fairly light and the blood has been mainly in clots-this month there have been no clots so far .Any idea why this could be? Is it normal?

i notice this was last year, just wondering what ur result was, and if it might have been hormonal eg. pill or implant.i ask because this is happening exactly the same to me, although i am using the implanon contraceptive implant which has done some weird things to me already so i figured it might have been something to do with that.i’m only 25 so my research of early menopause was alarming but kind of not plausable in my mind, it’s only been 4 days so i haven’t had it checked out cos my implanon weirdness usually sorts itself out in a few days, however i would like to know what u found about your situation, as mine is so alikehopefully it all worked out fine

What Does Dark Red Period Blood Mean

Is Yellow Cervical Mucus A Sign Of Pregnancy

You may see dark red blood upon waking during your period or after youve been lying down for a while. The deep color may simply mean that the blood has been sitting in the uterus for a while but hasnt oxidized to the point of turning brown.

Dark red blood is associated with:

The end of your period

You may also see this color blood toward the end of your normal menstrual period as your flow slows.

Lochia

The bleeding after delivering a baby starts out heavy and may contain clots. It may appear dark red in color for the first three days before changing to different shades and textures. Women who had cesarean sections may only experience this heavy bleeding for the first 24 hours.

Your period may start with bright red bleeding. This means that the blood is fresh and is flowing quickly. Your blood may stay this way your whole period or may darken as your flow slows.

Red blood is associated with:

Infection

Some infections, like chlamydia and gonorrhea, may cause bleeding between periods. If youre seeing blood before youre due to start your period, consider contacting your doctor.

Pregnancy

Bleeding during pregnancy of any color may or may not be reason for alarm. Sometimes, however, its a sign of miscarriage. Sometimes women have bleeding and go on to deliver healthy babies. Each case is unique. Its best to check in with your doctor whenever you see blood during pregnancy.

What Should The Consistency Be

Menstrual blood is different from the rest of your bodys blood. It doesnt usually clot. If the blood clotted, it wouldnt leave your body. So if this blood is different from the rest of your bodys blood, what should it look like? Some doctors say that the blood shouldnt be too thinlike Kool-Aidbut it shouldnt be too thicklike ketchup. The consistency should be somewhere in between.

However, that isnt always the case. Heres what it means if your menstrual blood is

If Your Period Blood Smells Abnormal Pay Attention

According to Dr. Dweck, abnormal-smelling blood could signal an infection. And no, period blood doesnt smell like a warm spring day but it does have a smell thats normal for you and if that changes, you should seek medical advice.

While you are an expert on your own body and will best be able to gauge what odors are normal for you, there are some specific, atypical smells to watch out for. If your menstrual blood suddenly becomes smells fishy, damp or musty, or rotten, then you might want to schedule a visit with your OB-GYN.

What Is Normal In Early Pregnancy Discharge

If you are sure you are pregnant, then you probably want to know if your discharge is normal. Watery discharge, especially with a few specks of blood, is perfectly normal for the first 4 to 12 weeks of pregnancy.

In fact, you might experience watery discharge your whole pregnancy, with a spot of blood a couple of times a week. It is very normal. It is also normal for it to literally gush out suddenly, even if it feels gross.

It can be anywhere from clear to white, and from almost-liquid to egg white consistency. For those first few weeks, it may be a tiny bit brown or pink from spotting.

It Can Evolve

It also might not even be at its worst yet, Im sorry to say. Some women find that their watery discharge reduces during their second trimester and comes back during the third.

Other women find it just gets heavier and heavier as time goes on. There is no magical formula for how it should be .

Hi allMy fiancé and I are trying to conceive, I have a regular cycle of 26 days with a 7 day period. I was due on on the 7th.I’ve had unpredictable mood swings for the past week or so as well as fatigue, dizzy spells and waking up very early in the morning . I’ve had absolutely no stomach cramps which is my usual warning sign for my period though around the 5th I started to get lower back pain.I tested on the 8th, 10th and 11th with first pee of the day hoping to get a positive result but all have been negative then on the evening of the 11th I got what I thought was my period but it’s bright red in colour and very thin, like water. There’s also not a lot of blood and no stomach cramps although my backache has gotten worse. Is this just an abnormal period or could I be pregnant? Very confused!!

Is It A Sign Of Early Pregnancy If My Period Blood Is Light Pink And Watery

Maybe. If what youre seeing is actually implantation spotting mixed with vaginal discharge, it could look like pink period blood.

But it could also be the start of your period. If the day of your expected period passes and the flow doesnt get any heavier, the best thing to do is to take a pregnancy test.

Things To Know About Implantation Bleeding & Early Pregnancy

Many people focus on missing their period as one of the first signs of early pregnancy. You might be surprised to learn that a small amount of blood and some cramping known as implantation bleeding can be a sign of pregnancy as the fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining and your 9-month journey begins.

Here are 5 things you need to know about implantation bleeding and how to tell if the bleeding may be a sign of pregnancy or of your oncoming period.

Youve Always Had Long Cycles And Irregularity

Pregnant Watery Discharge During Pregnancy Second Trimester

âPeriods that have always been a bit irregular with typically long cycles can be a sign of a hormonal imbalance called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome,â says Dr. Abrams. Other symptoms can include weight gain, fatigue, excessive hair growth on the face and body, thinning hair on the head, acne, headaches, sleep problems, pelvic pain, and mood changes, according to the PCOS Awareness Association. You Have Low Estrogen Levels

Consistently getting thin, watery, and short periods? Then you may have low levels of estrogen.

Right after your period ends, the ovaries start revving up their estrogen production. Estrogen is responsible for building up your uterine lining, making it a cushy future landing pad for a fertilized egg. If no fertilized egg implants, then your body will shed this thickened lining during the next period.

However: When estrogen levels are low, the prepare-for-baby message it sends to your uterus comes out as more of a whisper. With a thinner uterine lining, you may see watery and lighter periods, as well as symptoms like fatigue, headaches, and mood swings.

Some health factors that can diminish estrogen include:

  • Eating disorders
  • Excessive exercise
  • Hypopituitarism
  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Radiation treatments

How Heavy Can Implantation Bleeding Be

Implantation bleeding in early pregnancy is generally only a light spotting of blood that appears when you wipe or that needs a light pad or panty liner. It may also look like a light flow of blood, but it is different from the typical flow of normal periods. Typical implantation bleeding in the early stages of pregnancy is pink- or brown-colored discharge.

Watery Period With Cramps Because Of Hormone Fluctuations

Ups and downs in your hormone levels can also cause you to have a watery period from time to time.

Professor Jennifer Knudston, who is an expert in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas Health Center, says that the menstrual cycle is regulated by hormones. The complex interaction of your bodys hormones regulates ovulation, menstrual flow and consistency, and when the period starts. For some women, fluctuations in hormone levels can mean a lighter period or heavier period.5

Light, watery periods are just one of the signs that you could have a hormonal imbalance. There are natural ways to get your hormones back in balance and regulate your menstrual cycle. For example, you can try increasing your intake of foods that balance your hormones. This can help to increase your levels of progesterone and make your periods more regular.

You Have A Health Condition

A watery period on its own is usually nothing to worry about. However, a watery period accompanied by other physical symptoms may prompt a visit to a medical provider.

Many health conditions can directly or indirectly interfere with your reproductive hormones, causing a thinner or watery period. If youve ruled out other possible causes, a watery period may be a sign of:

  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome PCOS is known to elevate androgen levels in up to 12% of women. This can lead to an irregular or thinner menstrual period, as well as weight gain, acne, excess facial hair, and growths on your ovaries .
  • Thyroid issues Because thyroid hormones support the production of sex hormones, thyroid conditions like Hashimotos Disease and Graves Disease can lead to thin or water periods. If you experience sudden changes in appetite, weight, and energy alongside a watery period, theres a chance it may be a thyroid issue.
  • Fallopian or ovarian tumor A tumor in your ovaries or fallopian tubes can also result in a watery period. However, tumors are usually also accompanied by persistent lower abdominal pain, cramps, bloating, and excess discharge.

Watery Period Blood: What Are The Causes

Watery period blood is a type of bleeding that occurs during menstruation. The blood is watery and may be pink or red in color. This type of bleeding is usually caused by low levels of progesterone, which is a hormone that helps to thicken the lining of the uterus.

It can also be caused by other factors such as stress, diet, or exercise. If you are concerned about a watery period, speak with your doctor to determine the cause.

It is not necessarily a sign of pregnancy, but it can be one of the early symptoms. Other early symptoms of pregnancy include fatigue, nausea, and breast tenderness. If you are experiencing watery period blood and any of these other symptoms, speak with your doctor to confirm whether or not you are pregnant.

This Period Is Too Long This Period Is Too Short

A notably brief trip to period-town may not be cause for concern, especially if thats just the way your body rolls. Remember, periods typically last 2 to 7 days, and every woman is a proverbial Goldilocks theres a period length thats just right for her.

Keep in mind, menopause can cause disruptions in your cycle and hormonal birth control can speed it up. On the other hand, some of the things that may put you at risk for heavier bleeding have a tendency to cause longer bleeding as well.

If anything seems out of the ordinary, best to call your healthcare provider.

Symptoms And Characteristics Of Spotting

Is Implantation Bleeding Watery Brown

Light spotting can be a normal part of early pregnancy. It might even be so light that itâs only noticeable on toilet tissue after you wipe, or you might see a few drops on your panties. It usually lasts about a day, and is usually light in color. Most of the time itâs lighter in color than your normal menstrual flow, though, sometimes, it can be red or brown in color. It is often painless.

Although spotting is usually nothing to worry about, itâs important to report any bleeding to your healthcare provider just to make sure all is well.

Periods are different for everyone, but a lot of people have something in common: the color of their period blood can change over the course of a period. Sometimes its bright red, while other times it looks brown or black. Having brown blood on your period is usually normal, but why does it happen?
