You Are Pregnant But You Have Irregular Periods And Late Ovulation
If you have irregular menstrual cycles, then having a negative test but no period might mean that your ovulation was simply late this month. This will ultimately delay the implantation date, which might have caused you to miscount the number of days when you can finally take the test.
This is why it’s advisable to test a week or two after the day you were expecting your period. If you conceived late in the month, your hCG levels could very well be lower than the pregnancy test can detect, therefore resulting in a false negative.
Your menstrual cycle can be divided into two phases: the follicular phase, which begins on the first day of your period and ends when you ovulate, and the luteal phase, which begins after ovulation and ends when your next period starts.
The luteal phase usually lasts 11-13 days and doesn’t vary much, but the follicular phase could be affected by physical or mental changes, such as exercise, stress, diet, etc.
A negative test and no period could just mean that your period is late because your ovulation started later. Women with irregular periods have a longer window for ovulation, and thus, are particularly prone to miscounting and even having skipped periods.
If you keep getting a negative test but still have no period, then you should consult with your doctor. Major changes in your cycle can be symptoms of other conditions, including but not limited to pregnancy.
You Are Pregnant But Your Hormone Levels Are Low
Home pregnancy tests work by picking up on a pregnancy hormone called human chorionic gonadotrophin .
Levels of this hormone rise quickly in your body as soon as the egg implants into the wall of the uterus.
If youre testing quite early either before the first day of your missed period, or just a few days after the levels of hCG in your urine may not be high enough for a positive test result even if you are pregnant.
Some HPTs can detect the hCG hormone at very low levels but many of them are not so sensitive.
In addition, in very early pregnancy if you use a pregnancy test late in the day when youve already consumed lots of water or other fluids, the strength of the hormones in your urine will be diluted.
Thats why its best to use your first wee of the day for a pregnancy test.
This is one of the most common reasons for a negative test in early pregnancy. Wait a few days and then test again.
Heres a short video about Pregnancy Hormones you can look into:
At the beginning of a healthy pregnancy hCG levels double every day, so if you are pregnant it wont be long before a home pregnancy test can confirm it.
Referral To A Specialist
If your GP thinks a medical condition might have caused your periods to stop, they may refer you to a specialist.
Depending on what your GP thinks is causing the problem, you may be referred to:
- a gynaecologist â a specialist in treating conditions affecting the female reproductive system
- an endocrinologist â a specialist in treating hormonal conditions
You may have a gynaecological examination and various tests, including:
- blood tests â to see if you have abnormal levels of certain hormones
- an ultrasound scan, CT scan or MRI scan â to identify any problems with your reproductive system or the pituitary gland in your brain

If Its Carbs You Crave
Reaching for simple carbs when youre feeling tired and icky can make you feel better because of the increase in serotonin, but the effect is short lived. Have too many and you could end up feeling even more sluggish.
Instead of simple carbs, like chips, bread, or pasta, choose complex carbs that increase serotonin but make you feel better longer. These include things like beans and lentils, brown rice, and oats.

What Does Clear Sticky Discharge Before Period Mean
Vaginal discharge changes throughout your menstrual cycle. If youre yet to observe these changes, a sticky or gummy discharge may get you worried.
A clear sticky discharge that occurs a few days prior to the start of your menstrual period is not abnormal, and it a sign your period will begin in a few days.
If you dont perceive an abnormal odor or feel pain in your vaginal area, its nothing to worry about.
Youve Lost Or Gained Weight
Severe changes in body weight can screw with your periods timing. Extreme increases or decreases in body fat, for example, can lead to a hormonal imbalance that causes your period to come late or stop entirely.
In addition, severe calorie restriction affects the part of your brain that talks to your endocrine system and gives instructions for the creation of reproductive hormones. When this communication channel is disrupted, hormones can get out of whack.

You Waited Too Long To Read The Results
This doesnt happen very often mainly because when most of us take a pregnancy test we want to know the test results as soon as possible!
But if you have peed on a stick, left it, and then come back to it a few hours later and found a negative test result, this cant be trusted.

If you leave a test standing for a few hours after use it can dry out the urine on it evaporates, and a positive result can disappear.

You’re Not Exercising Regularly
It might not feel like it, but your period is a good time to beef up your exercise routine. It fights bloating, helps with digestion, and reduces the intensity of menstrual cramps. More importantly, though, working out can put you in a good mood. “Exercise enhances feel good chemicals,” Dr. Dweck insists. Research shows that the blood flow and increased heart rate keeps away fatigue and floods your brain with happiness-inducing endorphins you desperately need at this time of the month.

Ive Missed My Period For Four Months And Im Not Sexually Active Whats Going On
By | Aug. 2, 2011, 2:30 p.m.
Ive never missed a period before and Ive missed it for 4 months, & Im not sexually active or stressed/over/underweight/or on birth control. Im 16 & I cant ask my parents to take me to a gyno. Whats going on?
In the first few years of having your period, some changes in your menstrual cycle are normal. In addition, even if youre at a healthy weight, excessive exercise or changes in your weight can also cause you to skip a period. And your period can also be late or absent for no real reason at all.
If you continue to miss periods, you should see a health care provider. Six months or more of going without a period may indicate problems with hormones, the uterus, or the ovaries. So its important to get yourself checked out. A lot of teenagers are nervous to ask their parents about having a gynecological visit and exam, but chances are your parents are just as concerned as you are about your health. If, for whatever reason, you absolutely cant ask your parents to take you to a health care provider, you can go by yourself. Contact your local Planned Parenthood health center to find out about how you can do that.
