Machine To Make Guys Feel Period Cramps

‘i’m Shaking Over Here’: Guys Test Period Cramp Simulator In Viral Tiktok

Our hosts try a period cramp simulator LIVE on air

A group of friends tested a machine that reportedly simulates the feeling of period cramps in a TikTok video that has since garnered 1.5 million views, and it was clear some were not ready for the pain.

“I’m not going to lie, I’m shaking over here,” said DJ, a member of the friend group that posts under the TikTok account benztraphouse, before his own experience.

One by one, the friend group had a chance to experience what menstrual cramps felt like from the machine. While most of the women in the group seemed unaffected, one even said that the pain delivered by the machine wasn’t as bad as what she experiences monthly, it wasn’t as easy for their male counterparts.

“Is it supposed to hurt like that?” asked Josh, another member of the group. “It’s stabbing me! What do I do?”

They talked about where the pain traveled, including in their backs, knees and legs. When it was DJ’s turn to test the contraption, he doubled over from the pain.

Some people simulate menstruation cramps by using a transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation machine. Cleveland Clinic reported that TENS machines are generally used to treat pain by blocking or changing an individual’s perception of pain by delivering electrical impulses on the surface of the skin. The machine treats a number of common pains, including osteoarthritis, tendinitis and low back pain.

Other commenters wrote the experience should be “mandatory” for men.

A 6-year-old and his dad shared a moment of emotional regulation after a toddler meltdown.

Anyone who has parented a spirited “threenager” knows how hard handling toddler tantrums can be. Parents often joke about our wee ones throwing down, because laughter is sometimes the only way to cope. But in reality, it can be extremely disturbing and distressing for the entire household when a family member carries on in a way that feelsor truly isout of control.

Major tantrums can be especially hard for parents who didn’t have good parenting examples themselves. It takes superhuman patience to be the parents we want to be some days, and none of us does it perfectly all the time. When a child is screaming and crying over something irrational and nothing seems to be working to get them to stop, exhausted parents can lose their cool and respond in ways they normally wouldn’t.

That’s one reason a TikTok video of a father and son captured in the aftermath of an epic toddler tantrum has caught people’s attention. Many of us have been in the dad’s shoes before, frazzled and shaken by the relentlessness and intensity of a 3-year-old’s meltdown. And many of us have been in the son’s shoes as well, witnessing a younger sibling’s insanity and our parents’struggle to manage the situation.

But the way this father and son support one another is bringing people to tears with its beautiful example of emotional regulation, empathy and connection.

Men Experience Menstrual Cramps In ‘period Pain Simulator’ At Calgary Rodeo

Men tested their pain thresholds by trying out a machine that simulated cramps during a menstrual cycle in Alberta, Canada, July 7 through 16.

The experience was created by Vancouver-based company somedays, a period pain relief company that aims to remove the stigma of menstruation, according to their website. The company posted a series of period simulator videos on their TikTok account which has garnered millions of views.

The footage was captured during Calgary Stampede, an annual rodeo, exhibition, and festival held every July in the Alberta city, where the company was demonstrating the machine to willing participants.

CEO and co-founder Lex Perry spoke to CBS Mornings about her own experience with endometriosis, a painful condition that affects the lining of the uterus, and wanted to reduce the stigma around period pain.

The simulator, and what somedays is really trying to do, is open up that conversation in a way thats not awkward, she said in the interview.

The machine has several levels, Perry explains, which contracts the muscles for wearers to mimic the feelings of period pain. Level four is deemed as the standard cramp feeling, while level 10 is the most unbearable. Credit: somedays/@getsomedays via Storyful

Ladies, don’t you hate it when men complain that shaving is a pain? Many of you would probably argue that a few razor nicks are a joke compared with the pain, bloating, and mood swings that tend to accompany a typical period. Well, now we men can feel your pain with a device that simulates the delights of Mother Nature’s monthly gift.

The Menstruation Machine is an art project by Hiromi Ozaki , a Japanese-British artist who seems very intrigued by her own monthly cycle.

Featured in the Royal College of Art’s Design Interactions show, the device is intended to let men feel the pain of a woman’s period, though Ozaki says it’s also designed for women, as menstruation “might become something obsolete” in the future due to advances in contraceptive technology.

The silvery device, which may or may not be merely conceptual, is worn around the waist like a belt. According to Ozaki’s YouTube site, the machine drips about 80 milliliters of blood from a tank to simulate the average flow of a five-day period. Prepare your iPads, or whatever else will stanch that flow.

And how they loved afternoons spent with you. You made their favorite things for dinner three different meals for three different boys. And you always had a little surprise. A present, candy, or a special treat. I didn’t want them to associate you with gifts and sweets. I thought they should love you for you. I tried to tell you this, but you wouldn’t listen.

What Is Tens And Who Should Use It

If a TENS unit sounds familiar, itâs because itâs not new to muscle therapy. TENS is a noninvasive form of pain-relieving therapy. It is a small and lightweight battery-operated device that connects to electrode pads that send low voltage electrical currents across the body to stimulate the nerves and decrease pain. TENS units are available for home use and are also used in physiotherapists offices. This form of therapy is a good drug-free option for treating back pain, migraines, arthritis, sports injuries, menstrual cramps and other ailments. Research has shown that reductions in period pain can occur within 20 minutes of a TENS session. It is overall safe for most people to use, but those who are pregnant, have epilepsy or use pacemakers should consult with their doctor before using.

Likewise, Strock says the PowerDot is safe for most people to use, but advises against using it simultaneously on the lower abdomen and lower back. âThe electrical stimulation simultaneously used on the abdomen and lower back may unintentionally affect nerves that regulate involuntary life functions of internal organs,â she explains.

ALBERTA, Canada A period pain relief company recently put men to the test with a menstrual cramp stimulator and their reactions were hilarious. As the video shows, some men couldnt stop laughing, while others writhed in pain.

The Vancouver-based company called Somedays attached electrodes to all men who were willing during the Calgary Stampede, an annual rodeo in Alberta, Canada.

The machine contracts muscles, simulating the pain of menstrual cramps at various levels. A level four is the typical pain a woman feels, while a ten is the most painful. Only a handful of male participants made it to ten, at which point they were to remove their hats and yell, Yeehaw!

Why? Because Somedays wants everyone, men included, to know that period pain is not normal. The companys creator suffers from endometriosis, a painful condition that affects the uterus and other areas of a womans body.

CEO Lex Perry says she started the company to end the stigma of period pain.

What Causes Cramps During Your Menstrual Cycle

Period pain is often driven by prostaglandins, hormone-like chemicals that cause uterine contraction, says Jolene Brighten, medical director at Rubus Health and author of Beyond the Pill.

Though it seems like the muscular contractions would cause the pain, its actually the prostaglandins that take you to cramp town. Typically, the more prostaglandins in your body, the worse you feel during your period.

Luckily, there are ways to minimize those body chemicals and reduce your pain, though they dont always give you the fastest relief.
