I Found Myself Judging My Partner
Like most people, I can be fairly judgmental in certain situations. However, where Im least likely to be judgmental is in regards to sex. Im extremely sex-positive and no matter what youre into, I will give you the highest of fives and tell you to enjoy it.
But in this particular case, I was judging my partner. In fact, I think it was the only time in my life that Ive judged a sexual partner for anything and I felt like a total a-hole for it. Maybe it was because he was enjoying the period sex far more than I was or perhaps I was projecting, but I do know that even before it was over I had no intentions of seeing him again which sucks because hes the head chef at one of my favorite restaurants in the West Village. I havent been to the place since.

Getting pregnant highly depends on your ovulation cycle, and this cycle differs from one person to another. If you have a short menstrual cycle or your period lasts longer than five days, then you have a higher risk of getting pregnant during your period.
Also, it is essential to remember that sperm can live in your body for up to seven days. You Might Like It A Lot
Arousal is different for every woman, and some may be too distracted by their period and its annoyances to actually get in the mood for sex. But for others, menstruation could actually be a turn-on of sorts. Thats because your estrogen and testosterone are low on day 1, but they start to rise by day 3. Some women report they feel more aroused and more sensitive around this time, says Ford says.
Plus, your flow can serve as extra lubrication during sex, which can also increase pleasure. If you typically use a store-bought lubricant to help with dryness during sex, this may be your week to go natural. And some research suggests that orgasms can even relieve menstrual cramping and PMS.
Can You Get Pregnant Right After Your Period
You are moving into your fertility window, so yes, you can get pregnant right after your period. On a typical cycle that occurs every 28 to 30 days, the fertility window is usually between Day 11 and Day 21. Remember, sperm can live up to 5 days. What Are The Risks
Having sex on your period isnt necessarily more risky than having sex when you arent on your period. Sexually transmitted infections and diseases are still present, and you can still pass them on from one to another if you arent having protected sex. Some illnesses that transfer specifically through blood may be easier to spread when you are on your period.
If you dont want to become pregnant, the only way to avoid pregnancy completely is to remain abstinent. That said, having sex on your period is less likely to cause a pregnancy, but there is still a chance.
Theres also a risk you could leave a period care product in place and forget about it. Using devices like menstrual cups allows you to forget about your period essentially. Still, if you forget to remove your cup or tampon before sex, you could damage the product or end up in an embarrassing situation.
The real risks associated with period sex are mess-related. There are two concerns that most of us face when considering period sex: blood on the sheets and blood on our partners.
There is also the chance of catching a sexually transmitted infection or virus if you don’t use barrier methods like condoms. If you want to learn more about safely having period sex during menstruation, reach out to your healthcare provider or ob-gyn to discuss prevention techniques and best practices.

Do Menstruating People Enjoy Having Period Sex
Some people are uncomfortable having sex when theyre also dealing with cramps, fatigue, and bloating others are super turned on by the prospect of having sex while theyre menstruating. The best way to find out how your partner feels about period sex is to ask. Just remember never to make them feel gross or uncomfortable about it, because theres nothing disgusting about having a healthy, functioning menstrual cycle.
Even if your partner is really into period sex, you might have to switch up your usual sex positions when theyre menstruating. Can You Get Pregnant If You Have Sex During Your Period
Most likely you will not get pregnant having sex while on your period. Thats because your ovulation time is several days away decreasing any chances of getting pregnant during this time. However, there are exceptions. This applies to women who have a typical 28 to 30 day or longer cycle. If you have a shorter cycle, say every 21 to 24 days, that means you are ovulating earlier in the cycle. Because sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days, you could have sex towards the end of your period and then conceive 4 or 5 days later with your early ovulation. To verify, inexpensive, early detection pregnancy and ovulation tests can be purchased online from our corporate sponsor Fairhaven Health.
The probabilities of getting pregnant during your period are low, but the possibilities are there. This is not the time to have sex if you are trying to get pregnant.
