Who Should Not Take This Medication

My Lo Loestrin FE Experience

You should not take Lo Loestrin Fe if youre pregnant or considering becoming pregnant. Speak to your healthcare provider before starting this medication if you have any other medical conditions, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or breast cancer.

You should also speak to your health care provider before taking Lo Loestrin Fe if youre taking any of the following medications:

Order Lo Loestrin Fe from Marley Drug

Lo Loestrin Fe is still a branded medication without any generic alternatives available. As a result, the price for this medication can be quite high. At Marley Drug, you can get Lo Loestrin Fe for $209.02 per pack. This price includes free 23 day home delivery to all 50 states.

If the price of Lo Loestrin Fe doesn’t fit your budget, consider choosing one from 10 oral birth control options for $20/pack. This price includes free shipping and there are no quantity limits, meaning you can order as many packs as your would like.

Taking Only The Active Combination Pills

If youre using a combination pill pack, you just need to take only the active pills with no breaks in between. You should talk to your doctor or pharmacist so they can show you which pills are active and which are the placebo pills. Youll want to throw out the placebos.

If you take the active pills continuously, you wont get a period until you stop them.

If you stop taking active pills, you may experience a withdrawal bleed, which is similar to your period. Dabney recommends that you allow this to happen once every three to four months.

Dabney says some birth control pills have a higher risk of abnormal bleeding than others. You should check with your doctor if you want to start skipping your period. They may recommend that you change the type of pill you take.

Youll also want to check with your insurance provider to make sure theyll cover more pills in less time, since youll be going through pill packs faster.

You should not be off of the birth control longer than 7 days, or you will lose contraception efficacy.

Dont Blame The Pill For Weight Gain

The synthetic hormones in the pill prevent pregnancy by thinning out the lining of the uterus, stopping ovulation and preventing fertilization. The lining of the uterus is what sheds during menstruation. Birth control is pretty powerful, so sometimes it can thin out your endometrium so much that theres nothing to shed during your period. This is why its common for many women to not get their period on birth control, even during their placebo pill week.

When Are You Supposed To Get Your Period When Taking Lo Loestrin Fe

Question posted by Stella n on 20 Sep 2013

I’ve been on this pill for 3 months and I’m starting my 4th pack this Sunday. Last month I had very light bleeding when I was on the two white pills and no bleeding when I was on the two brown pills. This month I had light bleeding that started Monday and ended Thursday was that my period? Within the last month I’ve taken 5 pregnancy tests and all came out negative. Thank you

kaismama

If you’re taking the pills correctly, you’re not pregnant. You would get your period when you are on the inactive pills. Are you taking the inactive pills, or are you skipping them and starting a new pack?

Hi, I’m taking the 2 inactive pills , and start a new pack on sunday.

kimwinch14vickie50

Is It Normal To Not Be Having A Period During The Placebo Week

Menstruation is triggered by a drop in the hormones estrogen and progesterone, both of which are artificially produced by the pill. This means that menstruating on the pill isnt a real period so much as it is withdrawal bleeding produced by a lack of artificial hormones. Your period is not a medically necessary process. Its just your bodys way of telling you that youre not pregnant. This is why its totally safe to use birth control to skip your period entirely, either by using extended-cycle birth control pills that allow for four periods a year, or by skipping the placebo week of your 21 or 28 day pack. Its also normal to experience breakthrough bleeding outside of your placebo weekin fact, 1 in 5 women will experience this when starting a new pill. That being said, this breakthrough bleeding should stop after 3 months of pill use. If it continues, contact your doctor.

Why Lo Loestrin Fe Over Other Birth Control Pills

Melanie Haiken, Author at Nurx

With this 24/2/2 arrangement, you take 24 days of the blue estrogen and progesterone tablets, 2 days of the white estrogen tablets, and 2 days of non-hormonal brown tablets. This is different from many birth control pills, which often have a 7-day break from hormonal tablets. A 2-day break is beneficial because it, in general, . The 2 brown pills contain a small amount of iron that is thought to potentially have some health benefit as compared to the sugar pills which are the most common hormone free pills in birth control packs.

Lo Loestrin also contains the lowest level of estrogen available in a combination birth control pill. A lower level of estrogen is beneficial because it means there is a lower likelihood you are to have side effects.

Hormonal birth control pills give your body a specific, consistent amount of estrogen and progesterone every day. With this consistent amount of both hormones, there is no spike in estrogen and no egg is released. With no egg, pregnancy is not possible.

In addition, because the egg was not release there is no spike in progesterone, so the uterus does not get prepared for pregnancy. This is why periods are often shorter and less painful while on birth control, since there is less to get rid of during the period.

For a 28-day birth control pack, week 4 contains anywhere from 2-7 pills with no hormones, to allow your body to have a withdrawal bleed that mimics a typical period. During this part of your cycle you will not be able to get pregnant.

What Birth Control Should I Take For Less Frequent Periods

To have a period once a season instead of once a month, the easiest option is to choose a pill designed for this purpose. Continuous birth control pills generally include 84 days, or 12 weeks, of hormone-containing pills followed by 7 days of pills that contain either no estrogen or very low doses. Continuous birth control pills are combination pills, but their relatively low amounts of estrogen mean that even when you do have your period it will generally be light.

Birth control pills from Nurx cost as little as $0 with insurance or $15 per month without insurance.

Another option is Lo Loestrin Fe, which contains 26 active combination pills, 2 estrogen-only pills, and 2 placebo pills. This particular sequence leads to periods that are generally lighter and shorter than they would be otherwise.
